Yamamoto Baiitsu is Rebuffed by the Plum Tree

Come to me in the autumn.
Give me the summer
to shed this hateful fruit.

Surely, in some season,
you have watered your own roots
with tears.

Yamamoto Baiitsu (1783-1856) was an artist who became obsessed with painting plum trees.

I don't know how I missed this rewrite. I like this. Well, it could just be that it speaks to where I am right this second, but it resonates. That strength through trial thing that we all have to endure is so interestingly couched here.
I like it a lot.
