Separation Anxiety

She was twenty-eight when her twin was born.
They brought the baby in and she could not speak,
could not form thoughts,
only wanted to cry.

Twenty-four years later, the baby
cannot breathe.
Across the country her twin sees the x-rays.
The phone rings.
"I'm fine," she says.
"We're fine."

There is something about this one I have loved since you first posted it (yes, I do check this site). It may not be the most crafted or artful poem, but it is incredible, I think.
